Sandpit's creative director Sam Harin presenting at Hybrid World Adelaide.
Well it seems like only yesterday that Ignite SA launched. A year on and the program has gone from a concept to a fully supported operation, helping a number of startups and innovative technology companies on their path to create commercial offerings which solve challenges and open new markets.
Since Ignite SA’s launch in October 2017, the program has now fostered a number of challenges and is actively supporting multiple initiatives from within the State. In case you’ve missed it, our first involved developing a reverse pitch whereby stakeholders of one of the largest collections of Aboriginal artifacts presented their requirements, views and thoughts to a full consortium, in breaking down a physical barrier currently experienced within the South Australian Museum.
This program resulted in a pitch event during the Hybrid World Adelaide conference to a large audience, where Adelaide based company Sandpit were announced winners. Since then, a continued effort focuses towards bringing that vision into reality.
Ignite SA has also worked with other startups, innovative organisations and entreprenuers such as Athlete’s AI and Kiratech. Both of these startups have great application concepts that Ignite SA is helping to bring to an increased market. The creation of the digital town square, which when broken down is infrastructure that allows developers both compute and storage, to develop their applications without the costs associated with physical infrastructure or commercial cloud offerings, has been made available with Kiratech being the first to utilise.
The Ignite SA Triple 10 Research Initiative has also been run and won, with three different applications underway from three different disciplines (to be announced soon). Ignite SA is helping to expand these applications with support for added functionality while expanding the possible market avenues.
All in all a very busy, challenging but also rewarding year. A year of new starts, creating foundations and advancing the talent that South Australia has to offer. Ignite SA will continue to promote, support and foster the active growing tech community to develop and deliver smart applications that utilise the state’s advanced, high speed networks.
